geeze its a game, if u think that starting pointless political campain will please u above anything else - GL then... personally i prefer to PLAY instead of bugging evr1 around me with selfish demands.... after all its their choice what to do and if they enjoy spamming in All-channel - GL to them, if i'll get bored i'll turn All-chat off of cos if u believe that evrbdy have to behave the way U think is right u're prolly still in elementary school and have nothing else to do during the school break...
how about starting RL campain for smth useful like.... i dunno... cleaner environment... or fighting hunger in africa... or w/e? it'll be a better cause to waste ur time i think
edit: btw ppl who want to buy smth are keeping trade channel open and All-channel off, so All-channel spammers are wasting their time anyway - if u dont like them so much why help them? and GL to u to talk any chinese sellers in AL1 into not spamming WTS non-stop.... but actually u can start at droknars int1 - just make sure u have dictionary, cos they're speaking some asian lang, not english. if u're going to fight spammers u should start at the most-infected places aka LA1 and droknars int1

Your desire for making the game better is commendable. But, when it comes to thinking this will actually work, the phrase "snowball's chance in Hell" comes to mind. People are deliberately typing \/\/TS. If they put a filter on that, the spammers will simply move to \\`TS. If they're going out of their way to get around what Arenanet has done, its very doubtful they'll care what you have to say.

If there were an auction house, a trade channel, and filters, people would still be selling stuff in Local Chat, because they know they will be seen. Think of street vendors/hawkers and such when you think of Local Chat sellers.

Anet needs to improve the filter so that it captures different permutations of WTB/WTS. Would do alot to cut down on the general chat spam and is going to be done way quicker then some sort of auction house, which the game should have had from the get go.

People don't like being told what to do, and you are going about this in the wrong way. Focus your energy on getting an Auction House for Guildwars. The way your doing it now is like mowing the back yard with a pair of scissors, you'll never get the job done.

The auction house idea is great. All Anet has to do in this situation is make it so you CANNOT trade within the districts with people only with the NPC's. Thas it. No trade window will pop up. How hard is that? If you wanna trade you pull down the district menu and go to the auction house for that town. C'mon, this is the best idea yet and it will work! Sure, you may still have idiot hanging out yelling to come to the auction house, but it's a start. If everyone knows that to trade you have to go to the auction house, then they will go there if they are looking to trade or buy.

And if I just want to give my friend a couple of iron ingots or a vial of dye? I can't do him a favor now without the two of us hiking over to the auction house and putting those two ingots up for auction?
No. The auction house is a fine idea for big-ticket items, but you still need the ability to do casual trade. The existence of casual trade is not the problem here. The problem is that many people are idiots, and idiots are loud.
ArenaNet's not going to solve that problem, but I am able to deal with its symptoms in the current interface. When I'm not in the mood for rampant idiocy, I turn "Local" off. When I am in the mood for it, I turn it on. I've never felt like I was missing anything important when it's off.

I'd rather just sit tight and see if it shows up in Chapter 3. If the setting really does include a North African/Arabic sort of theme, it'd fit right in.

Original post is flawed because it is subjective that the community would be better if everyone stopped using "All Channel" to trade. I certainly don't agree that it would.
Rather, it would just cause many more people in the community to get severe migraine headaches due to being forced to use the trade channel. Which in turn gets them disgruntled and leads to more rage.
Or, it would have them simply stop trading at all so as to avoid the migraines. It's bad enough already for the seller, putting up with trying to trade in "All Channel". Trying to trade in "Trade Channel" is 50x worse. Many of those players will simply "see the light" and not bother, which results in more items being trashed or sold to the merchant rather than actually getting into the hands of players who need it and giving that item any sort of a useful life. Hence, this would hurt the game.
Because of these two points, the bottom line is that the only fair and reasonable way to stop people trading in "All" is for the devs to put in an Auction House.

Personally....i just dont trade with people in all chat...end of story. if you dont trade in all chat they will eventually go to where people are trading.
Auction house is good idea. I like it.
I like the idea of an auctioneer npc better. Automatic auction system kinda like old starwars galaxies auction sale system. highly doubt that will ever get implemented though.

Bad analogy though since in a lot of counties it's illegal to sell stuff on the street and basically no one does.
Personally I think people using the local channel for WTS/WTB should get a one day ban - if they are too retarded to figure out there is a channel for trading they deserve it.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean here. Are you saying you have migraines triggered by text in the color red? And you believe this is a common condition? What specifically is wrong with the trade channel?

And what's wrong with "not bothering?" It sounds as if you believe players have some sort of moral responsibility to buy whatever someone else feels like selling.
I have yet to buy anything in the game for the use of any of my characters. I've sold a couple of things, but the only thing I've bought (via the Guru auctions) were some Jade Wind Orbs to resell again with the ones I already had. The reason is simple: this is my first time through the game, and I want to take my time. I don't feel a need to buff my character out with the best possible items. I want to see what the game gives me, and how I can develop my skills with limited resources.
I'm sorry if this makes me a bad person for not supporting your selling habit. It's just not important to me. I don't turn trade off because it gives me migraines; I turn trade off because I don't care what's for sale. (And local chat because people are idiots.)
